"P_art of the Crowd" refers to Public art and it's inextricable relationship to people and places (crowd). This blog is a forum for the students of Art 201: Issues in Public Art to share examples, artists, and thoughts as they relate to public art. We invite others to share their insights and comments here as well.

This is like the work we saw several weeks ago. I wonder if it is by the same artist.
The bottom one that looks like cliffs is amazing. It is so big. I wish I could find some of these in person one day, just to see how they look up close.
That would be so ridiculous to work on. I can't even imagine the level of thought required just to figure out what needs to go where just so it can make sense from a single perspective. Oh and I'd probably hate people for walking on top of it and smudging it since it's just chalk.
Even though this is amazing work and takes amazing dedication, I feel like the chalk art thing has been overdone. Because everyone does it, it takes away the originality and that should be a big component of public art. It all seems copycat-ish to me. So I wont consider this public art until someone reinvents the tromp l'oeil sidewalk art and lifts it to an even higher level.
