Death of a Marat

The scene created by He Xiangyu's of the Chinese artist Ai WeiWei located in the Balmoral Artist's Residence in Bad Ems, Western Germany is one of confusion and terror. At least that is the over whelming response and panicked calls being made to the local authorities . Constructed out of real human hair, plastic and fiberglass, this sculpture really displays a life like quality. The message Xiangyu was sending through this piece is about the unfair imprisonment of WeiWei. An artist known for his political art and criticism. One of his most known works is the "Bird's Nest" Stadium used for the Olympics. The artist spent 81 days in jail with no formal charges being presented against him. Xiangyu's is one of several artists to pay tribute to WeiWei through their own work. I find it amusing how the artist set the scene for this sculpture really making look as though someone had really dropped dead.

This. This feels like the best idea for a practical joke ever. I love the people standing outside looking in though. I'd imagine it would cause quite a stir for a passerby to notice what they think is someone incapacitated on the floor.

Well now I want to know more about why this Weiwei guy was arrested. If he has supporters doing something like this then it must have been for a stupid reason.

Okay that's hilarious. I couldn't imagine people walking around the corner and seeing what appears to be a dead body of sorts. The message is definatly prominent, though the fear and shock one might feel had the not known might overwelm the message itself. Hopefully there is someone there monitering the people stumbling on the art work.
