Political Cartoons

Speaking frankly, I'm quite shocked I never thought of this.

Would we consider political cartoons as public art?

Why not?

Sure, it's meant to relay a certain message or agenda. But is that not what all types of 'public art' is used for. It's not quite a wide a scope half the time, but a main point is generally something political cartoons share with public art.

Simple put, these cartoons are for EVERYONE to read. More important, their main purpose is to be easy to understand. THAT"S THEIR PURPOSE.

Obvious, easily to access, and meant for people to start talking to one another about the issue at hand.
