These are subway cars in Japan painted by street artists. Each car painted has a certain theme to it. The ones on top have a pokemon theme and the ones on the bottom have an abstract theme. They painted these cars to keep the riders entertained while they were riding home from a long day of work. The interior is as cool on the inside as it is on the outside.

i like how it is colorful and it bring a little cheer to the everyday boring subway train.
This is definatly something the japanese would do. They always love things that are cute, and pokemon was pretty popular over there first. I bet they do this to prevent people from tagging the trains.
It defiantly brings a sense of whimsy to your every day commute.
I love this. I would be SO much more willing to ride a bus or taxi or something if it looked like this.
