Rubikcubism

Invader's new gallery pieces are made up from hundreds of original Rubik's cubes. Ranging from interpretations of iconic images (the Mona Lisa, Alex from A Clockwork Orange) to the abstract (representations of fragmented and de-fragmented hard drives), the Rubik's pieces are as instantly recognizable as Space Invaders, and on their way to becoming just as internationally recognized. No little square stickers were peeled off and moved around in the making of these artworks.

The reason I posted these images is that, although they do not carry the same message, the works and my project proposal share similarities in terms of appearance. I like the idea of using these small colored squares, because it conveniently displays how something so seemingly insignificant can contribute to create something on such a grand scale if they should come together.

Just picked my jaw up off the floor. What a great way to remix different parts of popular culture into something totally new.

I think this a pretty awesome post but I have one question, how long did it take him get all the colors on the row?

This is crazy. It reminds me of when artspace had the Pop! exhibit with the giant paint injected bubble wrap mural. It has the same sort of pixel-y feel.
