Southwest Pieta

This is the sculpture "Southwest Pieta" by Luis Jimenez. It was created in 1987 and placed in the Albuquerque Museum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  In 1999 it was declared a national treasure by President Clinton. There is great detail in the bodies and because he is of Mexican descent there are elements of hispanic culture such as a eagle, cactus, and corn.

I think this artwork stands out and is more different than others because it focus so much on the culture of the piece.
